Valley
An architectural detail created where two roof planes intersect, usually having ridge
lines at right angles to each other.
Valley Gutter
A channel used to carry off water from the "V" of roofs of multi-gabled buildings.
Vapor Barrier
Material used to retard the flow of vapor or moisture to prevent condensation from
forming on a surface.
Variegated Roof Surface
A surface marked with patches, spots or areas of different colors. In contrast to a
surface having either one color or a regular pattern or texture, a variegated surface has
a varied design of several colors and/or textures.
Vent
An opening designed to exhaust air, heat, water vapor or other gas from a building or a
building component to the atmosphere.
Ventilation
The process of supplying or removing air by natural or mechanical means to or from
any space.
Ventilator
An accessory usually used on the roof that allows the air to pass through.
